"The Cat in the Hat" tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Now one of the most performed shows in America, "Seussical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza!  The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

About Brea's Youth Theatre

Produced in partnership with Stagelight Family Productions, the City of Brea’s Youth Theatre Program has brought the joy of theatre to children and their families for more than two decades. Through the art and practice of live theatre, children and teens perform as a team with seasoned actors and educators in the community to bring some of Broadway’s most notable musicals to a live audience. Throughout the rehearsal process, children and teens learn the value of teamwork, while building confidence and lasting friendships. Truly an experience for the entire family, each production brings the opportunity for parents to contribute their own talents through a variety of volunteer projects that support the fun onstage. With two annual productions, there's plenty of opportunities for young performers and audiences to participate. Ask about registration for our summer production.
